My 5 Favorite Healthy Smoothie Recipes

Smoothies have been always one of my favorites breakfast meals and snacks. I even make myself one when I'm craving ice cream and I don't want to feel super guilty. And I don't know about you guys, but one of my biggest motivations for working out is a yummy and healthy smoothie as a reward for my hard work. I really love smoothies because they're a great way to "drink" vegetables and fruits in a delicious form, and by adding some protein, I make sure that my muscles can recover from a workout.

Today, I'm sharing my 5 favorite smoothie recipes and how I storage my fruits and vegetables so they taste always fresh!

First things first, PREPARATION. I like to wash and pre-cut all my fresh fruit and vegetables so it makes the whole process faster. Especially after working out when I have to get my protein intake in the first 30 minutes after finishing my exercise.

My favorite way to store my fruits and vegetables is by using these amazing Zulay Kitchen Reusable Silicone Food Storage Bags #ad. They are truly the best!! I've been trying so hard to stop using single-use plastic bags and these are the best solution for keeping my food fresh without using plastic bags. They're affordable, microwave safe, leakproof, they come in two different sizes, and the best part, they are DISHWASHER SAFE!!! So they're super easy to clean. I highly, highly recommend them! 💛

I store the large 50 oz. bags in the freezer and I store the medium 30 oz bags in the fridge since they can fit up to two servings and most likely I'll make a smoothie out of them in the following couple of days. This really saves a lot of time and controls the measurements so my smoothies always come out perfect!!

Now, the recipes!!

#1 Dark Cherry Chocolate Smoothie

This is my very very favorite smoothie, I make it all the time and it's such a delicious reward after my workout.

Recipe:

Milk of choice, I love cashew milk because it makes the smoothie creamier. The amount depends on the desired consistency. But I use about 3/4 cup.

1/2 frozen banana

1/2 cup frozen dark cherries

2 tbsp peanut butter powder, I use PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter

1 scoop chocolate protein powder, I use this Orgain Organic Plant-Based Protein Powder

Crushed ice optional

#2 Tropical Mango Matcha Smoothie

Another good one! If you've known me for a while, you must know I'm obsessed with matcha and I basically want to have on everything!

Plant-based milk of choice

1/2 cup of frozen mango

1 tbsp of frozen coconut chunks

1 cup spinach

1 tsp of matcha powder, I use CCnutri Matcha Green Tea Powder

1 scoop vanilla protein powder, I use this Orgain Organic Plant-Based Protein Powder

Crushed ice optional

A pinch of dried lavender petals optional (I add them to enhance the flavor, but totally optional)

#3 Lemon Blueberry Smoothie

Ok, this one might not be for everyone by judging the ingredients but I promise you, it is very tasty!!! You're gonna get lots of hydration from the cauliflower and the blueberries plus protein from the flaxseed and almond butter. Superfood smoothie!

3/4 cup plant-based milk of choice

1 cup frozen cauliflower

¾ cup frozen blueberries

2 tbsp almond butter, I use my total favorite RX Almond Butter

2 tbsp flaxseed meal, I use Carrington Farms Organic Milled Flax Seed

2 tbsp lemon juice

Crushed ice as needed

#4 Creamy Apple Pie

This is basically the super healthy version of one of our favorite Thanksgiving desserts that we can enjoy any time of the year! You are getting hydration from the apple, great flavor from the seasonings and protein from the oats and almond butter. Healthy dessert? Yes, please!!!

3/4 cup plant-based milk

1 cup frozen apple

½ cup rolled oats

2 tbsp almond butter

1 tsp cinnamon

½ tsp nutmeg

Ice as needed

#5 Peanut Butter & Jelly Smoothie

I love breakfast food!! And I'd say my comfort breakfast food is PB&J sandwich. This is a great way to have my "PB&J sandwich" with less fat and calories. You can also eat it in a bowl and top it with some banana and more fruit for extra flavor!

3/4 cup plant-based milk

1 scoop vanilla protein powder

1 cup of frozen berries mix

1 cup of spinach

2 tbsp peanut butter powder

I hope you guys enjoy these recipes! I had so much fun making them all so I could shoot the pictures hehe. Special thanks to the team of Zulay Kitchen for sponsoring this post and sending me their amazing silicone bags so I could keep my ingredients fresh!
